Senior Controller (SC)

The Senior Controller rating allows rated controllers to provide enroute services. As an enroute controller you will be expected to provide top-down coverage for major aerodromes within your sector.

The Senior Controller rating is highly sought after and can therefore be difficult to obtain. It is imperative that you have spent time consolidating your knowledge and ability with all other ratings before proceeding.

Prerequisites: Senior Controller candidates must meet the following criteria to be eligible to obtain the rating:

• Hold a C3 rating.
• Be handpicked by an instructor as a competent C3 controller.

To achieve the Senior Controller rating you must:

• Have completed a sufficient amount of self-study and be knowledgable in all operational aspects.
• Have completed the theory examination with an acceptable result.
• Pass a practical competency examination.
• Complete a month long endorsement where ability is monitored.
